“The concept of the OKI Pro9542 is attracting great interest among our customers. It is very compact, flexible in use and easy to operate, and compared with similar systems it stands out for its stable, good print quality,” says Paul Arndt, Managing Director of PrintsPaul GmbH & Co. KG.
Wide range of substrates, low costs
The lightweight digital printing system fits almost anywhere, on an office desk as well as in the production area of a label or packaging printer. It prints substrates in widths from 64 to 330 mm, lengths up to 1,320 mm and grammages from 52 to 360 g/m². Besides films, label stock, paper and board, many other substrates can be processed. “We recommend testing these materials in our demo centre in Eschweiler before using them in production,” says Paul Arndt. “Overprints, customisation and personalisation are of course possible.”
A major advantage of the toner-based system is its low fixed costs. Whether the smallest batch sizes or medium runs: packaging can be produced economically. Proofs and samples come first; after approval, the system prints exactly the quantity and design the customer needs at that moment.
Stand-up pouches with food-compliant toners
A sustainable kraft liner was used for the blank stand-up pouches. To print the pouches in register, the system was given a new feeder. “For the kraft liner surface we used food-compliant toners,” Paul Arndt points out. The design was separated into CMYK, with white added as a fifth colour. “We printed 3,000 pouches at 1,200 dpi and the highest speed of 15 cm per second. This is exactly the kind of run the system is made for. The colours remained stable throughout the run, and the white toner was laid down evenly and with full coverage.” Pouches made of film can also be printed. For this, an adhesion promoter must be applied first.
Switch off colour stations individually
Each colour station can be switched off mechanically. This saves ink and reduces wear. For example, you can print with black only while cyan, magenta and yellow are idle.
Quick changeover
Drum and toner form one unit in each colour station and can be replaced in a few simple steps. The system is quickly ready for use again and always prints at full quality, because worn parts hardly stand a chance.
At 699 × 625 × 640 mm (L × D × H), the system is very space-saving. Simple operation and the uncomplicated change of consumables make it a cost-effective digital printing system for many businesses. The printed stand-up pouches show what is possible.
